We're so glad you're here
Please take a moment to “check us out”!

Located at 265 Young Street in the heart of Wilson, NY, the Wilson Community Library has been serving the people of our community for over one hundred years! The library is open Monday through Saturday, for a total of forty six hours per week.

We lend books, audio books, magazines, movies and music. We are a member of the NIOGA library system. So, in addition to what is owned and housed in our building, our patrons have access to all of the materials owned by all of the libraries in the three county system. Materials can be loaned in, or Wilson library cards may be used in person at any of the twenty one member libraries. Patrons also have free access to a host of digital materials. You can borrow and download e-books, audio books, comics, magazines, television shows, and movies.

We have four public computers with high speed Internet access. We have five computers loaded with OFFICE software, resume programs and printing capability. We have free Wi-Fi. We also offer fax, scan and copy services.

There are several comfortable places within the library to read, work and study. We have a cool Wi-Fi counter where you can easily work with your own equipment. We also have a new adult coloring station, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. You can come in, grab a clipboard, coloring book and pencils, find a cozy spot, and de-stress for a while!

There is a wonderful children’s room filled with all the things kids are looking for: books, audio books, magazines, music and movies. And we have two brand new children’s computers. Kids, from toddlers to tweens, can hone their learning skills or just play fun games.

A Brief History

The Wilson Free Library has a long and storied history. Early in the 1900’s, libraries were only found in large cities. At that time, the Western Federation of Women’s Clubs started a campaign to bring public libraries to rural communities. In 1909, our local women’s group, The Delphic Circle, returned from a federation meeting in Salamanca, excited at the prospect of starting a library in Wilson.
